Cultural Attractions
While the University of Virginia offers its own vast resources for lectures, performances, exhibitions and sporting events, the cultural scene extends far beyond. Charlottesville’s downtown pedestrian mall is home to the Paramount Theater and its eclectic offering of concerts and performances. Anchoring the east end of the mall is the nTelos Wireless Pavilion, a covered outdoor music venue. Through spring, summer and early fall, music from its stage often fills the evening air.
Charlottesville is also host to renowned cultural events, including the Virginia Film Festival and the Festival of the Book. Each event brings internationally recognized artists, authors, movie buffs and readers to our vibrant, historic community to celebrate the best in film and literature.
