Honoring Our Donors

Through the generosity of many donors, over $3 million in financial assistance has been provided to residents in need through the Foundation’s Fellowship Program. The Foundation is supported solely through charitable gifts from residents, trustees, staff, family and friends, congregations, and corporations.

The 1990 Society recognizes those who have made a beneficiary gift to the Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge Foundation. Such gifts include life income gifts, charitable gift annuities or retained life estate gifts, a will, charitable trust, or insurance policy.

Many donors have the means to give at an extraordinary level. The Fellowship Circle includes donors whose cumulative gifts to the Foundation total $1,000 or more in the calendar year. Levels of giving within the Fellowship Circle include Patron ($10,000 or more), Benefactor ($5,000–$9,999), Sponsor ($2,500–$4,999) and Sustainer ($1,000–$2,499).

Corporate and business donors make outright gifts and, in some cases, match gifts made by current and retired employees. Many businesses support the Foundation through sponsorship of the Annual WCBR Golf Tournament.

Very special gifts are made by donors who pay tribute to loved ones, family, and friends with honor or memory gifts.

Gifts received in Honor can be given to recognize special occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays or simply in appreciation for a friend’s thoughtfulness in returning a favor, running an errand, or all the day-to-day niceties of being a good neighbor. Honor gifts are a wonderful way to celebrate friendships and special occasions, and a meaningful way to acknowledge the esteem you hold for someone.

Gifts received in Memory are made as a tribute to loved ones who pass away. A memory gift to the Fellowship Program transforms the memory of a loved one into a lasting legacy—a legacy that makes a true difference in the lives of others. Many memory gifts are received at the request of the family, who thoughtfully name WCBR in the public obituary. The suggested language might read “In lieu of flowers, please send a memorial donation to the WCBR Annual Fellowship Fund, 250 Pantops Mountain Road, Charlottesville, VA 22911.”
