Leadership
Gary B. Selmeczi, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Selmeczi has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since July of 2005. He manages the day-to-day operations of Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge. A graduate of Westminster College, received a MHSA from George Washington University, and is a licensed Virginia Nursing Home Administrator. He served in varying capacities at Goodwin House Incorporated beginning in 1986 and was the Executive Director of Goodwin House Alexandria from 1993 – 2005.
Mr. Selmeczi has been active with various professional, trade and civic organizations including Virginia Senior Care Group, Senior Services of Alexandria, the Rotary Clubs of Alexandria and Charlottesville, The Thomas Jefferson Area United Way, the Virginia Association of Nonprofit Homes for the Aging, and the Virginia Health Care Association.
He was a Juror in the Design for Aging program and is a former Evaluator for the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission. He was awarded the Administrator of the Year by the Virginia Healthcare Association in 1988.
Mary P. Clements, Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Clements has more than 25 years experience in financial and managerial accounting and currently oversees the Business Office, Information Technology, Facilities Services and Material Management functions at Westminster-Canterbury.
She began working for Westminster-Canterbury as the Senior Accountant in 1991. She left in 1994 to work for Marriott Senior Living Service where she held several positions including Property Controller, Cluster Controller, Regional Controller and Area Director of Finance.
Ms. Clements rejoined WCBR in March of 2005 as the Controller and was promoted to CFO in January of 2009. A graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Accounting, she has volunteered with various community organizations.
